Ork Week and Stunty Week completed miniatures

Hello everyone, hope you're all keeping well.

As I mentioned back at the start of Ork Week, the first true army I collected and painted were Warhammer 40,000 2nd edition Space Orks and what happened to them. (actually I think I may have done my first Dark Angel Space Marines at the same time.... But I digress...)

The challenges I have taken part in over the last month have given me a bit of fpcus and I'm going to be bringing that army back to life. I may not work on it full time, but it is going to be one of my main side projects alongside any other hobby goodness I flit to like the aimless hobby butterfly that I am.

I promised you these recently, the images of my completed miniatures from Ork Week and Stunty Week together:

First up we have the Mekboy and his assistants, my favourite of the bunch is the heavily overladen Gretchin at the back-right. I may still go back to the Shokk Attakk Gun itself and do something more with the globes, but I'm calling it done for the forseeable future.

Here we have the Painboy and his ""Orderliez" I like the two conversions I did for this group (syringe and tooth-puller), but I get a giggle out of the grot who administers the "Anasfetikk" read:hammer :)

And here is the Runtherder with his little mob of runts. The Gretchin with his eyes shut and finger in his ear and the little tough looking guy at the front wearing shades are without a doubt my stand out favourite sculpts from this range of miniatures. I wish there had been a lot more like them during the 2nd edition era, but alas it wasn't to be...

Last but not least we have the Ork Dreadnought, a clunky and ungainly looking device, but an awful lot of fun to play with. You can see it on the 60mm Lipped Base that I was awaiting in the post. This is the first time I've painted checks for going on, oh.... 15+ years... I'm not completely happy with them, but they're good enough for Orks I suppose. I think they turned out better on the Oddboyz than they did on the Dread' itself.

Here's a group shot of what is complete so far, I think it's a fun looking little group and I can't wait to expand it... After all.... It's not much of an Ork Waaargh with only 3/4 Orks in it. So some Boyz and Nobz will be next on the agenda.

I've also decided that I don't just want to stick them on an empty glass shelf in my cabinet, so I'm going to make a display board for them that fits one of the shelves. I sketched a handful of ideas to figure out what I would like to do.

the sketch ideas were:

  • wasteland/desert
  • outside an Ork settlement
  • ruined Imperial city
  • inside an Ork fort

I think a generic wasteland/desert look would go well with the bases that I have painted and will leave enough empty space for the figures to actually be displayed.

This isn't something I'm going to rush to do, I'll do it when I feel the urge and want to potter about with something other than miniatures.

Well, hope you enjoyed my little update. I'm going to relax alittle and see if I fancy getting on with some more hobby goodness later.

Take care evryone,
Jonah

    1. Thank you. I wouldn't say so though, I get overly critical of my own work. I find it hard to just let loose I think.

    1. I know lipped bases have a bit of a love/hate thing in hobby circles, but I've become quite fond of them.
I got a little tired of the old GW rounds... Although I did think of using them upside down as an experiment.

I don't think I've quite found what I'd really like for basing yet...
