Busy,busy, busy...

Hello everyone,
as you may have noticed I finished with the moving of posts and deletion of my other blog.

I've been busying myself with several things right now none of which have been terribly exciting, first is this:

Rescuing and stripping the paint from quite a load of my old miniatures languishing at the bottom of my bits-box.

The second thing I've been working on is:

These are two of the four skirmish boards that I started back here at the bottom of this post: Paste Table Gaming Boards.
These two have had polystyrene sheet inserted into them and then uneven ground carved into it, now I'm just waiting for the texture paint to dry before I can work on them further.

They are going to be painted/textured for a slightly swampy/woodland setting, I'll be using water effects in the craters I made.

The other two boards need more work and are going to be done in an industrial/urban style.

And of course, I'll be working on pieces of terrain to go with these skirmish boards too l…

Learning from my mistakes... (Or... Wow! I learned a lot!)

It was only about a month ago that I decided to split my blog into two because I wanted to separate my rare personal-life posts from my hobby output.

But I learned that it was a mistake the other day when I sat to write an article...

I wanted to start writing articles about artists, musicians, stories, places and many other things that inspire me, but when I realised I would want to duplicate this across both blogs it kind of made having two blogs seem redundant when in the majority they would be almost identical...

My other hobbies, interests and inspirations being personal to me, yet also affecting my hobby output

Neil101, you were right and I reread your comment on my post here, where I discussed the split with you.

I lifted this quote from you:
"I often think of separating things out into component parts , but then I think this is who I am take it or leave it."

Can't argue with the truth of that statement really...

I'll close the other and keep this, my first and most us…

More WIP shots of "freeman" and more...

Hi guys,
I would have posted pictures yesterday, but I wasn't in the best of moods.

I had a momentary lapse of concentration whilst working at my desk and left my guardsman too near my desk lamp and melted some of the details from down his left hand side.

After much cursing and brooding I didn't do anymore yesterday. But this morning I sat down and fixed all the damage, the main part being a re-sculpt of much of his left arm.

*sigh*... Disaster avoided...

I did a little more work on the Veteran guardsman, I believe he is fully constructed now and just about ready for a lick of paint.

Here he is at the moment:

"Freeman" - construction complete..?

You can see his writ of citizenship upon his belt, a piece I liberated from a larger detailed Ravenwing banner.

He has an Ork skull as a trophy turned shoulder pad and the bionic eye is melded into his pitted and scarred face. Also you can see his left hand is now bionic, I made from a Space Marine hand.

Here you can see the amount of …

Veteran Guardsman - work in progress

Hey folks,
I'm finally sat back at my hobby table and playing with parts.

I'm in the middle of converting a figure and thought I'd put it up at this stage to show you what I'm up to.

The Figure in Progress

The main body of the figure is a Cadian guardsman with a Catachan guardsman head.

I cut down the lasgun barrel to give it more of an SMG/Carbine look.

There are a couple of watch parts used here, one for an eyepiece of the bionic eye I'm making and the other just for a bit of detail on the lasgun.

I've carved out a portion of his lower face to give me somewhere to glue some cables/pipes and give me a little room for sculpting his battle-scarred face.

The box in the middle of his back was originally a part from the Warhammer Lizardman range, I'm using it as a combined rebreather and power-pack for his bionics, which the cables from his face will run to.

And you can see I've used some beads from a water filter to create a studded shoulder pad.

I've still got …

Close... Yet Distant...

Surrounded by a cacophony... Movements... Sounds...
But apart from it... Close yet distant...

Becoming lost in the quiet of that noise,
in the darkness within the light... Sinking further...

Do I hear voices..? A name..? A laugh..?

Then... No sight... No Sound... No thoughts...

A jolt..! A noise..!

Wrenched back too fast..!

I gasp for breath..!

Was it my name..? Was it a touch..?

Almost swallowed up by the blanket of nothingness,
that welled from looking inward for too long...

The myst roils back swallowed by that inner void...

And then I'm back... I am aware...

I am surrounded by a cacophony... Movements... Sounds...
But apart from it... Close yet distant...

Hello again,
It's been a while.

Forgive me my prose, I tend not to write creatively anymore...

Not because I don't want to, but because I just haven't been able to push myself to do it for a very long time.

I had a trying time this Winter holiday, there were definitely good things du…
