Sunday night roleplay prep

Pathfinder RPG prep

So I've finally finished all the spring cleaning after hiring a van and removing practically a metric ton of crap from my house and cellar and that's pretty much my entire spring break gone.

I've got all my hobby room sorted out and finally sat down to relax for the evening and get on with something, tonight it's prep work for my Monday role-playing group. A little while back I started running the Rise of the Runelords campaign for the Pathfinder RPG, but had to put it on hold while I got on with things around my home.

It just dawned on me while I was sat here scribbling notes, that I mainly post about miniatures and wargaming on my blog, even though I play RPG's a lot more than I get to push miniatures around a battlefield these days.

And it got me wondering about you, my followers.

I know many of you are into miniatures and wargaming, but how many of you are roleplayers too?

Are you in a RPG group at the moment?

If you are, what are you playing right now?

What do you want to be playing?

Consider my curiosity piqued, let me know in the comments below.

Now my hobby room is set up there will be more updates of me pushing putty and slapping paint on miniatures very soon.

Until then, take care.

  1. I'm playing some Rogue Trader inspired RPG at the moment with some folks, I'm about to post a model of my character btw.
I've been playing a paladin in an online DnD campaign for a while and I've grown very fond of this lawful good poncy prick of mine.

    1. My fiance is playing an Aasimar Paladin in my Pathfinder game. So she's like a double Lawful Good poncy prick lol.

Tonight's session went very well, everyone enjoyed themselves which I'm glad about.

First time back in the GM's seat in several months, thought I was going to be a bit rusty, I think the beer was good lubrication.

    2. apart from the mechanics, I don't think you can lose much if you're a good GM to start with, main assets would be to be open minded and pay attention to the players to play with the a little ;)

    3. I agree. To me mechanics are always of secondary importance whatever system we play anyway. As long as the players are having a great time and we're creating an awesome story together, then we're doing it right as far as I'm concerned.

Our RPG group has 6-10 members involved on a constant basis, whereas some groups usually have a couple of members that GM, every single one of our members has GM'd for the group, some more often than others. I'm one of the members that gets approached to GM more often by the group, so I must be doing something right lol.

  2. "I play RPG's a lot more than I get to push miniatures around a battlefield these days." Hopefully we'll start our long planned escalation campaigns soon and that'll change

"I know many of you are into miniatures and wargaming, but how many of you are roleplayers too?" Yes

"Are you in a RPG group at the moment?" Not right this second but yes theoretically two

"If you are, what are you playing right now?" A song of ice and fire roleplay and I have a character for project interface 0 but not been around to play it yet and when I am around the gm I have for it doesn't run :-P

"What do you want to be playing?" So many things. I want to play a dark heresy game run by a GM who doesn't think combat is the be all and end all of roleplay, I'm looking forwards to a 5th edition D&D game that's somewhere on my horizon and a slack GM I play with has promised to run me a solo session of World of darkness but he's been promising that for years :-P

    1. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Carl Bednall! This douche-bag is a very good friend of mine and one of the members of my gaming circle. (Pssst... He's also got a hobby/gaming blog that's been inactive for way too long... Go and poke him with a stick!)

We've played alongside each other many times for years now, I was a player in his awesome Dark Heresy Campaign too, but somehow Carl here has managed to avoid being in games that I have run (apart from one really mad drunken one-off session of
      Maid: the RPG)

Dude, you know what they say about people in glass houses. You've been promising me that game of Deathwatch longer than my promise of your solo game ;p

But in all seriousness, it shouldn't be too long until I'm GMing for the Saturday group and you should be able to attend more regularly, I just want to get to the end of the first chapter of the campaign for my Monday group first so I'm not pulling double duty.
