Mercenary Gunslinger - Inq28 miniature conversion
This is a random hired gun, or ganger, or Inquisitorial henchman I converted a while back. I had no particular gaming use in mind for him, he was just built as a fun little project when I was looking through my bits.
The Build:
The build was pretty simple, just a selection of bits that caught my eye at the desk.
- The main body/legs of the figure is an Ork Warbuggy gunner with the head removed, which I thought would represent an older/veteran fighter slightly gone to seed.
- The head of the figure is from the Chaos Marauder Horsemen kit.
- The arms are from the Chaos Cultists.
- Then little extra details like a second gun holster, little shield on his belt, some other tokens and pouches and an armoured plate from the Kroot kit I believe.
I just played with bits and pieces and some blu-tac, sticking bits together until I had something I like the look of. When I was happy I cut, scraped and glued everything to fit.
Once everything was glued together I added a little sculpted detail. Some quick fur trim around the jacket/vest and a flap the second holster as well as building the holsters to match in shape/size.
I kept the base pretty simple. A bit of a wasteland look. textured with a little gravel and bicarbonate of soda and superglue, the only details being a skull and some pulled bits of lichen for some scrub/plant-life.
Painting and the finished figure:
I went for the tried and tested Blanchitsu colour pallette. And because this was just a bit of fun and I didn't have to make him match any particular group/force, I decided to use it as an opportunity to practice some freehand work.
I think the striped pants turned out very nicely and the matching heraldry on the shoulder and shield at his waist.
The backplate looked a little plain, but the Ork range came to the rescue again with the boar iconography from a transfer sheet.
I kept the base simple in painting too, just a few inks that I laid down and pretty much let them do their thing.
I really enjoyed making this figure and might do some more to go with him at a later date. As for now, he still doesn't really have a use and spends his time on the shelf in my glass cabinet.
Let me know what you think.
Take care.
